Now that fall is in grasp we can really jump into all the fun activities that we look forward to each and every fall. My personal favorite is apple picking with my kids. Every year we try to go in mid September as the best baking apples tend to be ready and ripe for picking at that time. The family favorite verities are Ruby Mac and Empire apples. Here are our favorite spots to pick apples on Long Island.

Lewin Farms

Easy location to get to just off 25A - also has a great farm stand!

Harbes Orchard

Expect an all day adventure when planning to go to Harbes! A bit of a drive out east but a pretty one. They have a lot of varieties to choose from. Big food stand, corn maze, pumpkin patch. It really is an all in one spot to go.

Seven Ponds Orchard

A U-PICK farm. They also have a farmers market, Toyland, hayride and cornmaze for the kids to enjoy! Open everyday which makes it nice to avoid weekend crowds if your going with small kids.

Woodside Orchards

Beautiful east end north fork location with craft house made hard cider and baked goods! Large selection of varieties to choose from at the farm stand and for U-pick.

Aquebogue location is serving up hard cider and cider doughnuts. Picking available weekdays only.

Jamesport location is open Weekends & Holidays only, cash only $20/u-pick bag

Another great all-in-one location for a family fun day located on the south fork of Long Island situated between Southampton and Bridgehampton. Hanks offers activities besides apple picking like pumpkin patch, corm maze, gem digging, tractor rides, great food and cider too!
