Our Guide to Setauket

Fun Things to Do in Setauket

Setauket is a pretty town on Long Island’s north shore rich in Revolutionary War history and jam-packed with great restaurants, cultural events, and fun things to do. Here’s our guide to our favorite things to do and see in Setauket.

Best Parks in Setauket

Frank Melville Park is the perfect spot for a nice day. There are tons of little nooks to sit down and enjoy a picnic, and there’s a walking trail by the red barn in the back that’s still manageable for kids. There’s plenty of ducks, swans, and other wildlife to spot.

Best Shops in Setauket

Setauket Frame Shop is hands down the best little frame shop around. They’ve been family owned and operated for almost fifty years, and they’re always so patient and kind when perfecting your framing order. It’s a great find for framing a fine art painting, a cool yard sale find, or your kid’s latest masterpiece.

Best Restaurants in Setauket

Se-Port Deli: BECSPK - enough said. This might be the best deli on all of Long Island, and it’s recently expanded with even more seating room. Their sandwiches are big enough to share.

Tim’s Prime Meats is my go-to butcher shop. They have top quality cuts and everything else you might need. My favorite buys are the sausage ring and bacon and cheese burger patties.

Best Things to Do in Setauket with Families and Kids

Emma Clark Memorial Library has so many great classes and fun things to do with kids all year round.

The Three Village Historical Society has plenty of fun, educational programming for kids of all ages.

Reasons to Live in and Move to Setauket

Setauket is full of Revolutionary War history, charming historic homes, and beaches galore. It’s right near Stony Brook University for anyone who works there, or at any of the local hospitals. It’s a commuter-friendly town, too - its proximity to Nicolls Road puts Setauket only about 10-15 minutes north of the Long Island Expressway.
